The photographs come from the significant iconographic heritage preserved in the archive of the Study Center on Emigration of the University of the Republic of San Marino and have been selected based on what they show, and not on the technique used to take them, their structure, their modality of circulation or the mental patterns the seem to reflect. So presented, these images lend themselves to a variety of reading levels: from the private to the public, to what might be called scientific level. The book is intended to tell the story of San Marino emigration based on images, recalling some of the most important places and moments, a kind of collective album in which the San Marino community can identify.
